Fokis 618 Graft Adhesive for PVC, PU Leather & Rubber

Model: Fokis 618

Fokis 618 is a solvent-based graft adhesive for PVC, PU synthetic leather and rubber components. This modified neoprene contact adhesive is designed for demanding material combinations where a conventional general-purpose contact adhesive may not provide a dependable bond.

Its strong initial grab helps hold correctly prepared and pressed components in place. The formulation is designed for improved heat and aging resistance, with suitability confirmed on your actual materials and production process.

  • For challenging materials: Effectively bonds polar, hard-to-bond materials such as PVC, PU synthetic leather, and rubber.
  • Strong initial grab: helps reduce extended holding after the correct flash-off and pressing steps.
  • Heat and aging resistance: developed for assemblies that need to retain adhesion in demanding conditions.

Product Applications of Fokis-618 Graft Adhesive

Start with the surfaces being joined, then confirm the process. The following applications are candidates for material testing; compatibility varies with the material grade, coating and surface preparation.

PVC Coverings and Components: Evaluate Fokis 618 as a contact adhesive for PVC in covering, laminating and component assembly. Specify whether the PVC is rigid or flexible and identify the other bonding surface. For plasticized PVC, assess bond performance after conditioning and heat exposure, not only immediately after assembly.

PU Synthetic Leather: For PU synthetic leather used in furniture coverings, footwear components and decorative assemblies, identify whether the adhesive contacts the PU face, a coating or the fabric backing. Test both adhesion and the appearance of the finished material.

Rubber Components: Discuss Fokis 618 for selected rubber compounds used in manufactured assemblies. Provide the rubber type, surface condition and current preparation method. Confirm the required cleaning, roughing or primer process before trialling the adhesive.

Before a Bonding Trial

Use a controlled trial to assess the material pair and the process together. Share the following information with Fokis.

Trial focusInformation to provideWhat to evaluate
PVCRigid or flexible grade, surface finish, available plasticizer information and the mating material.Initial adhesion, changes after conditioning or heat exposure, and any softening or edge lift.
PU synthetic leatherFace coating or backing being bonded, backing construction, substrate and intended appearance.Bond strength, surface marking, discoloration and finish or backing failure.
RubberRubber compound, surface contamination or release agents, and existing cleaning, roughing or primer steps.Adhesion after preparation, initial handling strength and any required flex or aging tests.
Production processApplication method, coating amount, flash-off conditions, assembly timing, pressing, workshop conditions and required output.Repeatable early handling, final conditioned bond strength and performance against agreed acceptance criteria.

Confirm the Fokis 618 process before testing. Do not copy another adhesive's drying time, activation temperature, hardener ratio or pressure settings.

Safety & Handling Instructions

Fokis 618 is a flammable, solvent-based adhesive. The flash point is -5°C. Keep it away from heat, open flames, sparks and other ignition sources, and review the current SDS before use.

  • Ventilation: provide efficient exhaust ventilation and avoid prolonged or repeated breathing of vapor or mist.
  • Personal protection: wear chemical goggles and suitable solvent-resistant gloves selected for the application. Follow the current SDS and workplace exposure assessment.
  • Storage: keep containers tightly closed at 5–40°C in an appropriate storage area away from ignition sources.
  • Spills: keep material out of drains and use the spill response and disposal procedures specified in the current SDS.

Why Choose Fokis?

Start with the material pair: discuss your PVC, PU synthetic leather or rubber application and current bonding problem.

Connect selection with a production trial: review the preparation, assembly conditions and required acceptance tests before changing adhesives.

Discuss supply requirements together: request product documentation, samples, packaging options and distributor supply information for your market.

For footwear applications that call for a PU adhesive, also review Fokis-444 PU shoe adhesive and discuss which adhesive system fits the material pair.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Fokis 618 graft adhesive?

Fokis 618 is a solvent-based, modified neoprene contact adhesive for applications involving PVC, PU synthetic leather and selected rubber compounds. It is designed for strong initial grab and improved heat and aging resistance, with the final material and process combination confirmed through testing.

How does it differ from an ordinary general-purpose contact adhesive?

Fokis 618 is positioned as a modified contact adhesive for demanding materials where an ordinary general-purpose grade may struggle. The selection priorities are adhesion to the actual surfaces, early handling strength and bond durability after heat or aging exposure. Compare it with your current adhesive under the same agreed test conditions.

Can it bond every type of PVC, PU leather and rubber?

No single material name confirms every grade or surface finish. Flexible PVC, PU leather coatings and different rubber compounds can require different preparation and testing. Send representative materials and identify both bonding surfaces before confirming a production process.

Does strong initial grab mean no drying or pressing is needed?

No. Strong initial grab is intended to reduce extended holding after correct preparation, flash-off and pressing. It does not remove those process steps or mean that the bond has reached its final strength. Confirm handling time and conditioning requirements for your assembly.

Will it prevent peeling or blistering after heat exposure?

The formulation is designed for improved heat and aging resistance, but this is not a guarantee against every cause of peeling or blistering. Verify the material combination, preparation, solvent flash-off and pressing process, then test finished assemblies at the required temperature and exposure duration.

How should Fokis 618 be stored?

Store tightly closed between 5°C and 40°C. Keep the solvent-based adhesive away from ignition sources and follow the current SDS. Confirm shelf life and packaging requirements with Fokis before ordering.
