Water-Based Series

Fokis 8805 Water-Based PU Adhesive

Model: Fokis 8805

Fokis-8805 is a water-based PU adhesive supplied as a milky white liquid. Widely used in footwear bonding.

For footwear manufacturers evaluating a water-based bonding process, start with the materials you need to join and the conditions on your production line.

Share your sole and upper materials, current adhesive process and target bond requirements with Fokis to discuss whether Fokis-8805 is a suitable candidate for a material trial.

  • Water-based polyurethane formulation.
  • pH of 7.3–7.8 and specific gravity of 1.04.
  • Material and process review before production use.

Product Applications of Fokis-8805 Water-based PU adhesive

The following footwear applications are starting points for a suitability review. They do not constitute a confirmed compatibility list for Fokis 8805.

Sole-to-Upper Bonding Review: Tell us the sole compound and upper construction you are working with. Confirm the material pair, surface preparation and required bond performance before selecting a trial process.

Leather and Synthetic Upper Materials: Provide the material grade, coating or finish, and any existing primer. Submit representative samples so the proposed adhesive system can be evaluated on the surfaces used in your factory.

Switching to a Water-Based Process: Share your current solvent-based adhesive process, drying equipment and line speed. Confirm the application procedure and assess finished bonds before introducing a change to routine production.

Before a Footwear Production Trial

Give Fokis enough information to assess the material pair and the process together. Confirm the application procedure before trialling the adhesive.

Information for a Footwear Bonding Trial
Trial inputInformation to provide
Material pairSole material and grade; upper material and surface finish; photos or actual samples.
Surface preparationCurrent cleaning, roughing and primer steps, including the products used.
Production conditionsApplication method, drying equipment, line speed, workshop temperature and humidity, and any activation and pressing steps.
Acceptance requirementsRequired bond strength, conditioning time, ageing or flex tests, test methods and customer pass criteria.

Agree on the test method and acceptance criteria before comparing samples. Record the materials, preparation, process conditions and conditioning time alongside the results so a successful trial can be repeated.

Safety & Handling Instructions

Water-based does not mean that ventilation or protective equipment can be omitted. Review the current SDS before handling or applying the product.

Ventilation: Use in a well-ventilated area and provide local exhaust or other engineering controls as required by the SDS and workplace assessment. Avoid prolonged or repeated inhalation of vapor or mist.

Personal protection: Wear protective gloves and safety glasses with side shields. Use additional splash protection when splashing or spraying may occur.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Avoid temperatures below 5°C or above 40°C and keep away from foodstuffs, acids and alkalis.

Spill control: Prevent entry into drains, water and soil. Collect spills with absorbent material and arrange disposal in accordance with applicable requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Fokis 8805?

Fokis-8805 is a water-based polyurethane adhesive supplied as a milky white liquid. Its MSDS lists a pH of 7.3–7.8 and a specific gravity of 1.04 (water = 1).Widely used in footwear bonding.

Can Fokis 8805 bond rubber, EVA, leather or synthetic footwear materials?

Suitability needs to be confirmed for the actual material pair and production process. Send Fokis the material grades, surface finishes and preparation steps to discuss a trial. A material name alone is not enough to confirm a suitable bond.

Does Fokis 8805 need a hardener or heat activation?

The supplied MSDS does not specify a hardener, mixing ratio or activation temperature. Obtain the current Fokis-8805 application instructions before use; do not adopt another adhesive’s process settings.

Can it directly replace a solvent-based PU shoe adhesive?

A change requires a production trial. Confirm surface preparation, application, drying, any required activation, pressing and the finished bond’s acceptance criteria before changing the line. If you are comparing options, discuss both Fokis-8805 and Fokis-444 with Fokis.

Is Fokis 8805 odorless or VOC-free?

Fokis-8805 has a slight ammonia odor. For actual measured VOC values, please consult the Fokis Technical Department.

How should Fokis-8805 be stored?

Store in a cool, dry place and avoid temperatures below 5°C or above 40°C. Keep it away from foodstuffs, acids and alkalis. Confirm shelf life and any additional storage requirements with Fokis before ordering.
